      Premium Laminate Flooring Selection

      High-Quality Laminate Flooring

Laminate flooring comes in a variety of innovative designs and shapes. They are loved for their realistic visual, moisture resistance, durability and affordable prices. Our options range from abstract graphic patterned styles to appearances that are virtually identical to actual wood. The option is ideal for a fast and hassle-free décor upgrade. Best of all, it is easy to install and maintain. Laminate floors are also the more stylish, affordable and durable alternative to traditional hardwood floors. At HardWood Planet, we are passionate about offering high-quality laminate flooring at the most competitive prices in the market. Our collection is expansive and is available for every budget and style.

      What is Laminate Flooring?

When you have a restricted budget but still want a fabulous look, laminate flooring in Toronto is the option to go with. Our flooring products are made using wooden materials that have been bonded using resins and pressure. The top layer is usually a high-resolution image of the natural product the material mimics. The manufacturing process makes the surface of these products highly resistant to moisture. This makes it possible to install them in any part of your home.

HardWood Planet is committed to making it easy for property owners to access the perfect laminate floors that match their needs and budget. To do so, we offer an impressive range of laminate floor options. We take pride in having the most comprehensive selection and distributing only the finest quality to guarantee our products hold up well even in the busiest parts of your building.

If you are on a tight budget and in need of flooring options that will not disappoint, take a look at our impressive laminate range. As with all our flooring products, our laminate floors are skillfully crafted. We aim to ensure maximum customer satisfaction and guarantee the best value for your money. Our products check all the boxes regarding style, durability, quality and easy maintenance. Give us a call to find out more.

      Layers of Laminate Flooring

We attribute the resilience of our laminate flooring to the board’s superior construction. The floorboards have four distinct components:

      1. Wear Layer

This is the top-most layer. It is the part that is resistant to scratches that result from daily use. To make it strong, the top layer is made of resilient melamine plastic, which protects the boards from damage. It makes the flooring easy to clean because it is stain resistant, and the colours are not affected by UV light and thus do not fade.

      1. Décor Layer

This is the layer immediately after the top layer. It is where the printed image lies. The high-resolution image recreates the natural look of stone, wood or tile.

      1. Core Layer

This is the layer that makes the flooring dent-resistant. The layer is so strong that it makes laminate floorboards offer better resistance to dents than natural wood flooring.

      1. Backer Layer

This is the bottom-most layer. It is meant to provide added support and stability to the floorboards.

Important Things to Know About Laminate Flooring

Our certified experts at HardWood Planet recommend considering a few things to make sure you make the best choice for laminate flooring. They include:

      • Thickness

Typically, our laminate planks are available in thicknesses of between 7 and 12 millimetres. You should, however, note that despite the thickness, laminate flooring offers the same level of dent resistance. However, when more dent resistance is needed, especially when installing on uneven floors, our team recommends going for thicker laminates.

      • Width

Our laminate planks are available in varying thicknesses. While the average thickness is between 5 and 7 inches, some of our planks are smaller, and others are bigger.

      • Finishes

When it comes to finishes, you will be spoilt for choice. At HardWood Planet, some of the options include oak, hickory, maple, cherry, walnut, pine, chestnut, and more.

      • Abrasion Criteria Rating

The abrasion criteria rating refers to wear resistance. The rating is measured between 1 and 5, where 5 refers to more durability. In residential flooring, our experts recommend ratings of 3 and 4 and an abrasion criteria rating of 5 for heavy commercial building traffic.

      • Textures

Our range of textures is quite diverse. However, hand-scraped, high gloss and embossed are the most popular textures.

      • Direct Pressure vs. High Pressure

The difference between a Direct Pressure Laminate and a High Pressure Laminate is the number of layers. High Pressure Laminate has five layers, which makes it superior and costlier. The first layers are treated separately before being connected to the mid-layer. More than 13,000 pounds of pressure are needed for every inch of laminate to bind correctly. Direct Pressure Laminate has a maximum of 4 layers. The layers are bound using 600 pounds of pressure for every inch. The material is cheaper and less durable than High Pressure Laminate.

      Why Choose Laminate Flooring?

Do you ever wonder why laminate flooring is the most popular flooring option? Our experts recommend it because it is the best substitute for real hardwood flooring. Furthermore, there are so many benefits that are associated with the laminate option.

      Affordable

At HardWood Planet, most of our clients go for laminate because of its affordability. The process of making flooring laminate makes the product less expensive. The product is made primarily using composite wood, which is pressed together under high temperatures. This makes it less costly than natural timber.

Our clients find floor laminate not only affordable but also very economical. The hard surface makes the product durable. Its longevity makes it easy to maintain, and thus, our team recommends it as a more economical flooring option for both residential and commercial buildings.

      Beautiful

Advances in the technology used in the manufacture of laminate floorboards have made it possible for the experts at HardWood Planet to create products that are indistinguishable from natural timber. The design, texture and colour of natural hardwood can be mimicked with extreme precision. In most cases, your visitors will not be able to tell the difference unless you tell them.

      Durable

Laminate floorboards are protected by a strong external layer and resin coating. As a result, the material is much stronger and more resistant to impact and scratches. You will also be happy to know that the material lasts longer than hardwood, carpet and vinyl. The average lifespan of laminate floors is between 15 and 25 years. In some cases, the material can last longer.

      Easy Installation and Maintenance

Laminate flooring is a floating floor. This means it is installed on an existing floor without securing it to the subfloor. Our products use a simple lock-together system. Our certified installers simply need to slip them into place, and they will lock with each other. This makes laminate a perfect choice for DIY installations as well.

      East Maintenance

The best thing about laminate floorboards is that they are extremely resistant to scratches, fading, stains and moisture. Our experts recommend simply wiping away spills and stains using a microfiber piece of cloth. You can also easily vacuum and sweep the flooring. Thanks to its superior protection and our team’s quality workmanship, our products are durable.

      Ecofriendly

If you want to make your contribution to saving the planet, our laminate floorboards will help you achieve that. The flooring options are made using recycled materials.

      Resilience

Are you searching for a durable flooring option for a high-traffic area? Our laminate makes the perfect choice. This is because the composite timber material we use in the construction of laminate is hard-wearing. Once they are installed, your laminate floorboards can survive not just high traffic but also pets’ claws and kids. Moreover, the material is extremely UV resistant. The colours of your beautiful floors will remain the same for years.

      Safe

Due to the way they are designed and installed, our laminate planks have an extremely low chance of the seams opening and causing accidents. Furthermore, since the installation involves interlocking the planks and not gluing them, you will not be exposed to the volatile organic compounds released by glues.

      Styles

At HardWood Planet, we offer our clients a wide range of styles for laminate flooring. While the most popular laminate floors are those that mimic natural stone or hardwood, we provide limitless possibilities for colours, styles and textures. The wide range of styles available makes it easy for you to find the patterns and tones that go perfectly with the style and mood of your home. It doesn’t matter whether you are looking for a cool & contemporary or a rich & elegant look, our huge catalogue has you covered. HardWood Planet offers a vast selection of high-quality laminate floorboards with remarkable realism.

If what you are looking for is a flooring option that is durable, affordable, easy to install and with plenty of design options, we recommend our laminate floors. Where to Install Laminate Flooring

The level of durability our laminate flooring offers makes it ideal for high-traffic areas. Modern laminate floors can thus be installed just anywhere. The waterproofing feature makes them a great choice for both kitchens and bathrooms. Our flooring experts can help you install them even in the basement to ensure installation requirements are met.

      How to Install Laminate Flooring

Our floor laminates are designed for easy installation using the click or fold-and-lock system. This makes it possible to cover a large area within a very short period during installation. Our high-quality planks are also easy to cut. They can be cut to be fitted in tight corners and laid over any type of subflooring material.

Our process of installing laminate planks always starts with the removal of the mouldings or baseboards. We then cut the planks to the right size and get the surface of the floor prepared to be smooth. Here is our typical laminate flooring installation process.

      Before Installing

While our laminate flooring products are designed to be durable, not every product in our catalogue is completely water-resistant. That is why we are always happy to hold a consultation to help you choose the perfect product for your desired installation area. This is more so when you need laminate planks for installation in the bathroom, kitchen or laundry room.

While the installation of our laminate floor doesn’t require you to tear down old surfaces, we always make it clear to you that new laminate flooring will increase your floor level by about 3/8 inches. In some cases, some of our clients ask us to remove the old surfaces so as not to raise the floors too much.

Our experts recommend leaving the laminate planks in the room where the installation will be done for at least 48 hours. This helps the planks to contract or stretch as per the temperature or humidity levels in the target room. Doing this helps avoid the issue of the planks buckling after installation.

      Getting the Surface Ready

In our more than 15 years of experience installing laminate flooring, we have found that to achieve a perfect fit, the existing flooring has to be free of debris. This is because debris can cause the laminate flooring to lift and become uneven. When this happens, there is an increased risk of damage to the new floors. This is not something any of us want. Our mission at HardWood Planet is to offer high-quality flooring that lasts years. For this to happen, the floor has to be prepared specially. Getting the floor ready often includes simple things like vacuuming and sweeping the target floor before installing planks.

      Installing the Underlay

While it is perfectly okay to install floor laminate directly on the floor, better results are achieved when an underlayment is installed first. The choice of underlayment will depend on the condition of your subfloor. For concrete floors, we often recommend an underlayment with a damp membrane. A foam underlayment will be sufficient for non-concrete floors. Give us a call, and let’s help you pick a suitable underlay for your home.

The role of the underlayment is to reduce the influence of external factors on laminate floors from beneath. Our team will ensure the underlayment is smooth because if it overlaps at any point, it may cause the floors to rise and cause laminate floor issues.

      Lay the Boards

Now that the floor is ready, our experienced team will start by trimming the protruding sides of the laminate. They then lay the laminates beginning from one corner of the room. Care is always taken to make sure the ridge side of the laminate faces the wall. We also use spacers to leave a consistent distance of 10 to 12 millimetres around the edges of the floor. A hammer is used when laying the subsequent rows to ensure a tight fit between the interlocking planks.

While it seems easy to install laminate planks, in our experience, learning how to lay laminate flooring is too daunting for the inexperienced. That is why we offer installation services. Our expertise goes beyond the manufacture and supply of high-quality laminate flooring. Bringing in our expert team will guarantee that the results are perfect and long-lasting. Get in touch with us today for a free, no-obligation consultation.

      Underfloor Heating

Note that not all underfloor heating systems can be used with laminate flooring. Our experts can recommend a compatible system. In some cases, you may have to embed the mesh in self-levelling or thinset before you install laminate flooring. Our team is happy to share expert advice on how to use laminate floors with underfloor heating. Don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have.

      How to Clean Laminate Flooring

While we only supply meticulously crafted, high-quality and durable products, regular laminate floor cleaning is the key to making it look as beautiful as it did on the first day after installation. Although the new floors may look and feel like natural hardwood floors, you shouldn’t clean them the same way. Laminate planks require special care because when damaged, the surface of laminate planks cannot be refinished. To avoid problems, here are our pro tips on how to clean laminate floors.

      • Sweeping and Vacuuming Regularly

The best way to extend the life of laminate floors is by regular sweeping and vacuuming. Places that have a lot of traffic may require frequent mopping. Consider using a mop that has a washable, reusable microfiber head. Avoid cleaners that are too abrasive.

      • Wipe Spills Immediately

Although the top layer of our premium products is designed to be stain-resistant, you should never let spills sit on the laminate floors too long. This is because when left too long, spills can discolour the surface of your floors. Spills should be cleaned immediately using a sponge or a dense microfiber cloth.

      • Don’t Use Too Much Water

Being water-resistant doesn’t mean you use too much water on a floor laminate. We recommend keeping liquids to a minimum when cleaning the floors. When water pools and seeps through the seams, it can damage the planks and require a costly replacement. A spray mop is the best option when cleaning laminate planks. Make sure you dry the floors immediately.

      • Use the Right Cleaners

Always use the cleaners that are designed for your specific laminate flooring. This is more so when it comes to getting rid of stubborn stains. Products that are oil-based, for example, can leave streaks or even damage the protective sealant of your floors. You must never use polish or wax on the floors. Contact us for advice on the cleaners to use.

      • Protect Your Floors

As scratch-resistant as our laminate floors are, if you want them to serve you for decades, you still need to protect them using furniture pads, rugs or carpets.
