Versatile Vinyl Flooring Solutions: SPC, PVC, and WPC

SPC, PVC & WPC Vinyl Flooring Solutions

Vinyl flooring in Toronto has gained a lot of popularity in recent years. It is a popular choice among homebuilders and industry designers. This can be attributed to the myriad benefits it offers. We are proud of this product because it enables you to replicate virtually any look you want in any room, including the bathroom and basement. As flooring experts, we only manufacture and supply meticulously crafted products that are easy to install, clean and maintain. If you are searching for life-proof vinyl flooring, you will find the ideal solution here at HardWood Planet

Furthermore, we understand that due to the rapid rise to fame, the market has been saturated with different vinyl flooring options. This has created a challenge for consumers when choosing the type of vinyl floor. If you are stranded, we are here for you. After more than 15 years of hands-on experience manufacturing and installing vinyl flooring, our team at HardWood Planet has come to recognize SPC, PVC and WPC as the three most resilient vinyl options for modern homes. So what are they?

      SPC Vinyl Flooring

We are very proud of the SPC vinyl. Also referred to as Stone Plastic Composite, our SPC vinyl flooring combines the aesthetics of natural wood with the strength of stone. The vinyl has a core made from a blend of polyvinyl chloride, natural limestone powder, and stabilizers. This makes it both water-resistant and highly durable. In our experience, SPC vinyl floors are ideal for both residential and commercial buildings. This is thanks to the rigid core, which increases dimensional strength and stability.

We recommend SPC for high-traffic areas because of its high level of durability, remarkable resistance to impact, resistance to scratches and dents as well as being fully waterproof. SPC can be installed in moisture-prone areas such as kitchens, bathrooms and basements.

      PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) Vinyl Flooring

This is the most basic form of vinyl we offer. Its core is made of three elements: paper, felt and vinyl foam. The core is encased in a protective layer. PVC is the thinnest vinyl option available for flooring. It measures about 4 millimetres in thickness. It is this thinness that gives the vinyl its flexibility. However, we do not recommend PVC vinyl installation on imperfect subfloors because the soft and pliable form of the product makes it vulnerable to dents.

While PVC is durable, it doesn’t resist heavy impact. It is, thus, ideal for areas with low traffic. Further, it is not fully waterproof, but it can handle splashes and spills. Give us a call if you are not sure if PVC is the right product for you.

WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) Vinyl Flooring

For a luxurious look and feel, we recommend this product. Our WPC vinyl is basically an engineered vinyl plank. While it is a relatively new product in our catalogue, it offers remarkable results in adding a luxurious feel to any room it is installed in. The WPC vinyl we manufacture has a thickness of between 5 and 8 millimetres. The core is made of wood fibres or wood flour. This gives a soft underfoot feel. The WPC vinyl flooring we deliver is also dent-resistant.

While not as resilient as SPC, we recommend WPC because it is durable and can withstand regular wear and tear. The flooring is also water resistant but not as waterproof as SPC. When it is installed properly, it handles occasional spills and moisture really well. We do not, however, recommend its installation in wet environments.

Our SPC, PVC and WPC flooring offer varying combinations of waterproof properties, durability and price points. Your choice will depend on your needs and the level of traffic in your target area. If you need help picking the right vinyl flooring, we encourage you to reach out to us. We are always happy to hear from you. Take advantage of our free, no-obligation consultations.

Benefits of Installing SPC Vinyl Flooring

Our SPC vinyl flooring in Toronto is common in homes and condos in Canada. This is primarily because of the numerous benefits this flooring product offers.

      Inexpensive

Vinyl is the most economically-friendly flooring option on the market. The product itself is affordable, and the installation cost is extremely low. You can spend as little as $2 per square foot when getting vinyl installed professionally by our in-house team.

      Style

Our vinyl flooring can be printed to mimic solid hardwood, tile or ceramic. Feel free to send in your custom request. We manufacture the highest quality flooring that meets the exact specifications of our clients. This allows our clients to complete their rooms with their required outcomes. Moreover, you can get vinyl flooring in virtually any colour and design you can imagine. Best of all, we use choice materials and technologies to supply only the finest quality products that mimic precisely what you want. Whether stone, ceramic or wood, we capture all the tiny details, including the textures and colours. With us, you can find a product that looks and feels like wood, stone or any other preferred product.

      Comfort

Our vinyl floors feel warm and soft under the feet. They are more comfortable to stand on than ceramic and stone flooring options.

      Resilience

SPC vinyl can withstand a wide range of impacts, including heavy foot traffic. The flooring option works great in virtually any room, including kitchens, laundry rooms, and hallways. The resilience of vinyl is what has made it possible for us to offer exceptional warranties on our products.

      Easy Installation

Vinyl installation is easy. Our products can be placed directly on existing floors. The high-quality SPC and WPC vinyl we offer can work even on floors that are uneven or have cracks.

      Low Maintenance

Only minimal maintenance is needed to maintain the shine of the vinyl floors we deliver. Sweeping and mopping are enough to keep the floors looking superb.

      Stain Resistance

All our printed vinyl floors, including PVC, have a surface barrier that protects them from spills and stains. This guarantees that they last long and resist stains remarkably. The wear layers on our products make them easy to clean.

      Pet-Friendly

SPC can withstand nail scratches and messes from pets.

      How to Install Vinyl Flooring

Depending on the type of vinyl being installed, the process will vary in terms of duration. Our experts, who are experienced in how to install vinyl plank flooring, mainly use two types of installation methods: self-stick or glue-down. Self-stick vinyl is the easiest to install.

      • Preparation

We recommend leaving the vinyl flooring products in the room where they will be installed for at least 48 hours. This enables the product to adjust to the temperature and moisture levels of the room. This means once the installation is done, you will not have issues with the product shrinking or expanding and tarnishing the results.

      • Clear the Room

On the day of installing the vinyl, removing the baseboards helps reduce distractions. Our team will further make sure that the base floor is flat and with a straight edge. We will also remove anything that may cause the floor to be uneven.

      • Sketch the Room

For easy installation, our team will draw lines on the floor to mark where the vinyl will be laid. Our expert team knows how to cut vinyl plank flooring with precision. We use specialized tools for this and not just utility knives.

      • Lay the Vinyl Flooring

We have found that the best way to install vinyl plank flooring is by first laying it on the floor and cutting it. This helps achieve an exact fit. We always cut the vinyl using straight lines and keep it within the floor sketch lines.

      • Apply the Adhesive

When working with glue-down vinyl, we always ensure the room is well-ventilated before getting started. Next, once the planks have been cut to the exact sizes, we will set them aside and spread adhesive across the floor. In most cases, we recommended an adhesive strip that is about 6 inches deep.

      • Attach the Vinyl

The final step is all about attaching the vinyl. Our team will lay the vinyl over the adhesive, use firm pressure and smooth the product for a solid and flat connection.

We always recommend the professional installation of vinyl flooring. Our installers at HardWood Planet can finish the job efficiently while providing a perfectly laid floor. We will also help you avoid the installation mistakes that may cause the costs to go up. Call us today, and let’s discuss how we can help.

      How to Clean Vinyl Flooring

Properly cleaning vinyl flooring will help extend its life. For starters, consider cleaning spills immediately using plain water to prevent stains. Our experts recommend planning a thorough floor cleaning at least once a week. Start by vacuuming, then dry mopping to remove dust, dirt and hair. In thorough cleaning, use a wet mop with a recommended cleaning solution.

Cider vinegar is considered to be one of the best cleansers you can use on your vinyl floors. It is very effective in removing both dirt and grime. Mix a cup of cider vinegar in a gallon of hot water and use a damp piece of cloth or mop to clean. Make sure you rinse the mop or cloth regularly using hot water throughout the cleaning process. You can add dishwashing soap to the mixture for better results.

      How to Clean Stains

If your vinyl flooring has stains from acidic substances like ketchup or fruits, you can remove the stain with a paste of baking soda and water. Rub the paste on the target area using a soft towel until the stain clears. Clean the baking soda using a solution of vinegar and water.

For tough stains from crayons, lipstick or ink, you can use rubbing alcohol and scrub using a brush with soft bristles. Our certified experts strongly advise against the use of abrasive brushes or steel wool as it will scratch your beautiful floors. If the stain is caused by nail polish, remove it using a nail polish remover. Feel free to contact us for advice on the best vinyl floor cleaning products.

      How to Remove Scuffs

If your vinyl flooring has scuffs, you can remove them with a WD-40 lubricant that you spray on a towel and rub the scuffed area until the scuff fades. You should then use a solution of water and vinegar to remove the WD-40. Jojoba oil on a towel also works great in eliminating scuffs.

      Tips for Vinyl Floor Maintenance

Taking time to learn how to clean vinyl floors is the first step to prolonging the life of your beautiful floors. This is because when left uncleaned, dust and dirt can easily cause your vinyl floor to wear down as well as degrade the beautiful finish on your flooring. We recommend having a good area rug or doormat to reduce dirt on the floors.

When moving furniture, make sure you protect your floors from scratches. We recommend using sheets of panelling or plywood when moving furniture to prevent scuff marks and tears. It is also good to invest in vinyl coasters. These sit under the legs of furniture to prevent permanent indentations to the vinyl floor.
